The first official Vancouver Curlfriends Meet Up took place on September 10, 2016. I (Teta) was honored to be among the ladies to co-found this amazing group, Vancouver Curlfriends. We began planning this event with the founder of Vancouver Curlfriends, Chynna M. and fellow co-founder, Davina C. , during the summer. Trust me, organizing this event was a lot of FUN!! I really enjoyed working with these beautiful ladies - with all the time and planning of the event , the BIG DAY finally came.

September 10th, it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Surrey.
We got to the restaurant around 12 to set up the decor and to go over the agenda.

The event officially kicked off at 2pm and most of the ladies had arrived by then- beautiful natural HAIR , LOTS of melanin lit up the table! There were about 15 ladies - the decor was set by none other than the talented event planner/founder of Vancouver Curlfriends, Chynna. The decor consisted of: Pink flowers with gold vases, pamphlets with natural hair DIY's recipes/tips laid across the table set and gold/pink plates, in front of all of us.

We started off by introducing ourselves (our names, why we went natural /how long we've been natural) and it was quite interesting to hear all the different reasons to why attendees went natural. One of ladies has been natural for ten years, talk about motivation!! We broke into icebreaking questions and we discussed various topics about what defines "good hair", what our go-to natural product is and of course, would you consider yourself a product junkie.. GUILTY as charged hahaha ^__^

We then, proceeded to lunch and continued to connect with all the ladies - which a few of the ladies, discussed their businesses (we should definitely support our fellow sisters in their business) from gym, natural hair blogs to organic skin care. We also provided gift bags, which included treats such as natural hair product samples, DIY recipes and other goodies for the ladies.
